Teacher of Science

We are seeking to recruit a talented teacher of Biology to join our Science department, with the ability to teach students of all abilities across key stages 3 to 5.

We are looking for applicants with a commitment to outstanding teaching and learning. This post is appropriate for newly qualified as well as experienced teachers.

You will have a love of science and the desire and ability to convey this to students. You will be dynamic and energetic, and committed to the aims and ethos of a church school. There is scope to contribute to other subject areas, the pastoral work of the school, and a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

As part of the Aquinas Trust we are pleased to be able to offer employees a number of very attractive continued professional learning (CPL) opportunities.  The ACE - Teach and the ACE-Lead courses for teaching members of staff come highly rated by those who have enjoyed these opportunities.  They offer high quality training including coaching and a chance to learn from other colleagues across the trust at similar career stages or those who have recently developed their career within the trust.  Many recent delegates have progressed to secure promoted posts within the trust following their first or second year of employment with us. This type of training also offers a fascinating insight and collaboration cross-phase between secondary and primary teachers with colleagues benefiting from seeing outstanding practice in action to inform the very best practice in our schools.

Teaching Assistant

 

Grade:  Aquinas 3
Full time salary range: £17,552 - £19,196 p.a.
Pro rata salary range: £13,364 - £14,616 p.a.
Hours: 32 hours per week x 39 weeks per year (term time only, plus INSET days)

Required to support students at all levels who have a broad spectrum of learning difficulties. You will be required to work with children who have a range of difficulties that affect their learning both within the class setting and in small groups.

 Ideally applicants will have a recognised qualification and experience of working with students with Statements of Special Needs.  There are currently two vacant positions for the post of Teaching Assistant ready for the right candidates.

Premises Assistant

Grade: Aquinas 3
Full time salary: £17,552 - £19,196 p.a.
Standby allowance: £567 p.a.
Hours: Shift rota - earliest start is 06:30, and the latest finishing 21:30

We are keen to appoint an enthusiastic and versatile premises assistant to join our friendly team. We are looking for someone with a good general DIY skills, with electrical and/or plumbing knowledge being particularly valuable to the team.  You will assist the Site Manager in ensuring that the school site and grounds are maintained in a safe, clean and orderly condition. 

This will mean that you will:  

  • Undertake maintenance and repair work, following direction of the Site Manager, and making sure that any repairs are properly and promptly carried out. 
  • Assist in such tasks as may be necessary for effective site management, including various porterage and lettings duties. 
  • Assist in ensuring a strict adherence to all procedures including Health and Safety requirements and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations. 
  • To be a key holder for the site and be available for call out as and when circumstances require. 
  • You will be required to demonstrate initiative and clear understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace. 
  • You will be able to effectively communicate with a range of people, varying from staff to students.

Cleaning Supervisor

Grade:  A2.4 - A2.6 [Aquinas Operational]
Full time salary range:  £17,382 - £17,769 p.a.
Pro rata salary range:   £6,787 - £6,938 p.a.
Hours: 16 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

You will be required to work independently whilst supervising a small team.

· Have excellent attention to detail needed to achieve Audit standards.

· To work additional hours where necessary

· Able to assist with deep cleans within the holiday periods

Catering Assistant (Maternity Cover)

Grade: Aquinas 1
Salary: £10.00 per hour
Hours: 27.5 hours per week x 38 weeks per year

Bishop Justus require a Catering Assistant to join the team on a temporary basis to cover a maternity leave.  Catering Assistants are key people in helping us develop a high quality food and beverage service to the satisfaction of our staff and students.  We run our own in-house catering service, have outstanding kitchen and restaurant facilities and are committed to the preparation of high quality food and to healthy eating. 

You should have a friendly and outgoing personality, a flexible approach to working within a team, be customer focused and have the ability to meet high standards of service.  You should be able to relate to both staff and students, of all ages and abilities.

You must have knowledge of basic food hygiene principles.  Ideally you should hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (training will be provided to obtain this qualification if not).  In addition, full training will be provided on food service in all our areas.
