One to One Individual Support Assistant x2

Aquinas 3 - Student Support
Full time salary range: £18,657 - £19,891 pro rata
Hours: 32 hours per week x 39 weeks per year

We are seeking to recruit two One to One Individual Support Assistants to join our Inclusion Team. 

Basic requirements

Ideally, applicants will have a recognised qualification and experience of working with students who have a broad spectrum of learning difficulties at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, including those with Statements of Special Needs. [Training will be given where necessary.]

Key functions
  • One to one support in lessons to address the pupil’s personal care needs and close supervision while moving around the corridors at busy times.

  • Two to one support for toileting
  • Time during the day to practise his exercise programme.
  • Candidates should have a qualification in English and Mathematics equivalent to at least NVQ level 2.
  • Knowledge of the key factors that can affect the way students learn.
  • Sound literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to make use of ICT to support students’ learning.
  • Able to confidently and competently apply knowledge and skills acquired from training into a practical classroom context.
  • Good planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and encourage students.
  • Awareness of child protection and bullying issues.
  • Aware of and willing to promote the school’s inclusion policies and practices.
  • Ability to use basic technology resources.
  • Be willing to work flexible hours to assist with examination periods.

Teaching Assistant with Numeracy

We are seeking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to work with the Learning Access Director to support students with Special Educational Needs.  The successful candidate will be required to work with children who have a range of difficulties that affect their learning.  This may be within the class setting under the supervision of the class teacher, or in small group enhancement work, or individually. 

The role is a perfect opportunity for:

  • a graduate who wants to gain relevant experience prior to moving on to Teacher Training at a later date; or
  • someone with a passion for Numeracy Support.

The role will allow the successful applicant to lead small groups of learners in bespoke Numeracy groups in a small class setting. All Schemes of Work are provided, as well as robust and continuous training.

  • Facilitate twice weekly Booster group interventions with pupils identified as needing Numeracy Support.

Design Technology Technician

Grade: Aquinas 4
Full time salary range: £19,582 - £21,325 pro rata
Hours: 22 hours per week x 41 weeks per year

We are seeking to recruit a Technician to join our Design Technology team. 

Job Purpose

To support staff teaching Design Technology by preparing equipment and materials and assisting in practical lessons.  Technicians play a crucial role in supporting and directly improving students’ learning experiences in Design Technology.
Duties and Responsibilities

This does not constitute an exhaustive list, but gives an indication of the range and types of duties expected of the post holder.

  • To support students within the Design Technology area; to enthuse and motivate students to ensure their success at learning.
  • Supporting teaching staff in practical lessons by taking part in demonstrations and giving technical assistance to students.
  • Helping students to get the most out of learning experiences.
  • To provide technical support to staff during lesson time as required.
  • Delivering, setting up, checking, and preparing equipment and teaching areas for practical classes.
  • To prepare/lay out equipment, tools and materials for class use.
  • To have a methodical and reliable approach to the tasks set.
  • Maintaining equipment and teaching areas: to clear up, clean, store and maintain equipment, tools and materials after use. To ensure the cleanliness and safety of workshops, classrooms, store room etc.
  • To check and repair tools, equipment and machines in a safe and functional condition, and in accordance with Health & Safety requirements.
  • To monitor and maintain consumable items and components, including stock control.
  • Under the direction of the Subject Leader, to order equipment and resources and to collect deliveries for the department from the school office. To check their delivery and storage.
  • Organising, storing and stocktaking equipment.
  • Carrying out administrative and other functions related to the smooth running of the department.
  • To assist staff in the production and updating of displays within the department.
  • To become proficient in the use of the range of CAM/CAD equipment and software and provide technical support during lesson time.
  • Ensuring a safe environment: to comply with the Health & Safety requirements of the school’s policy, with particular reference to the policy and practice of the department’s health & safety procedures.
  • To be aware of and comply with school policies and procedures.
