Bishop Justus CoE School

Congratulations on securing your place at

Bishop Justus Church of England School!

Dear new Year 7 Students,

I am really pleased to be writing to you because it means something exciting: you are joining us as a Year 7 student at Bishop Justus this September. We are looking forward to welcoming you on Wednesday 2nd September 2026, and I cannot wait to meet you.

Starting secondary school is a big step, and it is normal to feel excited and maybe a little nervous too. Please be reassured that you will be supported from day one. At Bishop Justus, we believe in Success through Faith, Love and Learning, and we want every student to feel safe, confident, and ready to try their best.

Two virtues that really matter as you start Year 7 are Kindness and Courage. Kindness means looking out for others and helping everyone feel welcome. Courage means having a go, even when something feels new or challenging, and not giving up when learning feels tricky. We will encourage you to be kind, to be brave, and to feel proud of yourself for trying.

Your Head of Year will write to you soon with details of our transition events, which will help you get to know the school and feel ready for September.

On Thursday 2nd April 2026, we will email your parent or carer with some important admission forms. Please remind them to look out for this email.

Once again, welcome to Bishop Justus. You are joining a caring community, and we are very glad you will be part of it.

We look forward to meeting you very soon.

Mr Blakelock

Headteacher

Uniform

The wearing of a smart school uniform is central to good discipline and to the ethos of the school and therefore committed to full uniform for students in Year 7-11. We expect students to take pride in their personal appearance and in wearing their school uniform. Their clothes should be clean, smart and shoes should be polished. Attention to personal hygiene and grooming are also important.

The 3 C's

Chance Choice  Consequence
We all have moments where we can do better. You'll be given a chance to do the right thing and directed to act with wisdom and kindness (e.g. work quietly or listen to instructions). Show courage by making the right choices when it matters. Every day, you have the power to choose. Your teacher will give you an opportunity to make a wise decision rooted in love for yourself and others. Show faith in yourself and your community by choosing actions that bring hope and positivity.  If you make a poor choice, there will be a consequence (workshop, contacting home, etc.). This isn't just a punishment - it's an opportunity to learn, grow in wisdom and practice courage in the face of challenges. Be hopeful and wise - learn from this so that next time you show your virtues.

We hold a Freshers Fair for our new students joining the school so that they can see the fantastic range of extra curricular clubs on offer, ask questions and even try out some activities! Look out for this when you join us!

Students use Satchel One (Show My Homework) to access the homework tasks set by teachers. This means you don't forget to write anything down and it helps to keep you organised!

In December this year the cycle team at LBB will be delivering Level 3 Bikeability.

Look out for an invitation to apply email in September!

Chaplaincy and Worship at Bishop Justus

Recognising the soul. Meeting the heart. Empowering the mind.

Chaplaincy
At Bishop Justus, our Chaplaincy team helps to care for the whole person.

As a Church of England school, our Christian faith shapes our daily worship and pastoral care. We aim to be a welcoming and inclusive community where everyone feels safe, respected and valued.

Worship

Our worship is guided by our six Christian virtues: Faith, Love, Wisdom, Hope, Courage and Kindness.

Worship takes place each morning in tutor groups and year groups. It is a time to pause, reflect and think about what matters.

Students are encouraged to share their ideas and questions. We welcome different viewpoints and create space for respectful discussion. Everyone is invited to take part, whatever their faith or background. Student involvement is always a choice.

Worship helps students develop confidence, leadership and their own voice. It also gives time to think about our school, our local community and the wider world.

A Space to Pause

We are fortunate to have a dedicated school chapel. It is a calm and welcoming space, filled with natural light and plants, overlooking our school grounds.

The chapel is used for prayer, reflection and quiet time. It is also open at lunchtime for students who would like space to think, talk or simply be still.

It is a place where we can pause in a busy day and remember what matters most.

The Bishop Justus Family Prayer Sessions

We value and cherish our school community and hold weekly family prayer sessions on Zoom that last up to 30 minutes.

We invite all parents and caregivers of our students to attend. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to connect informally in a reflective space.

Every week, a reflection is focused on our Christian ethos, and you are welcome to share your thoughts. However, contributing is not expected; being present is valuable as it offers time for personal reflection and fosters our sense of community. Everyone is welcome to join and can leave whenever they need to.

Email invitations are sent out in advance of each meeting. These sessions are a blessing and continue to be a supportive aspect of our school family life. As parents and caregivers of our new Year 7 students, you are welcome to join us starting in September.

We look forward to you joining our school community and sharing in moments of reflection and togetherness.
