FREE SCHOOL MEALS ARE CHANGING FROM 1st SEPTEMBER 2026

What is changing?

All families who receive Universal Credit may be able to get Free School Meals.

There will now be two different groups for eligibility based on household income.

Every child must be checked again under the new rules.

What you need to do

To make sure your child gets any support they are entitled to, all parents and carers must fill in a new application form for each child, even if your child already receives Free School Meals.

Please use this school-specific form link to apply:

School Meals

Catering at Bishop Justus School is delivered by an in house service, which enables us to prepare quality fresh food on-site by our own staff whilst tailoring menus to the preferences of our students.

We are very proud of our catering team and the quality food they provide for the school community. If you would like further details about menus, please ask Mrs. Murphy or one of the catering team.

Nut free zone

We would like to remind all students, staff, and families that our school strives to be a nut-free zone, which includes sesame seeds.

This policy is in place to protect students with severe nut allergies, who can experience serious – even life-threatening – reactions. In some cases, a reaction can be triggered not only by direct contact but also by exposure to someone who has recently consumed nuts.

Please help us keep our school environment safe by ensuring that no food brought to school contains nuts.

Disclaimer: Although we strive to be a nut-free school, it is impossible to provide an absolute guarantee that no nuts will be brought onto the premises.
